Eep!
How has it been more than a month since I wrote on this blog? Oh, wait: I know. Two jobs, a graduate course, relationships, hanging out with my dogs…there are a million reasons, and no excuses. I’m sorry for my absence.
I’ll put together a cohesive post soon; I’ve got several taking shape in my head. In the meantime, though, simply to get going again, I thought I’d show you a few pictures from the last month. I’ve traveled just a little bit, out to the east coast and now to Texas, but I’ll be back on the northern California coast in a few days.
As I write, I’m sitting in one of my favorite coffee shops – Mod, in Galveston – busily hiding from the oppressive heat lurking outside. Sweat is the most natural of accessories in this island town.
In any case, here’s a little bit of what’s happened lately:

I strolled by grasses in California…

Made sure to spend the entire $12 breakfast voucher from Alaska Airlines after I missed my flight because of their delay…

Ogled some amazing-looking meringues at LeoNora Bakery in Arlington, VA…

Had a snack with my nephew (along with some firetruck time)…

Visited upstate NY for my soon-to-be sister-in-law’s bridal shower (yay!)…

Watched a mirrored moonrise in Maryland…

Found summer in some Black-Eyed Susans…

…and wound up in my favorite island coffee shop!
As I said, there’s more to come in future days. In the meantime, I’m going to do my best to enjoy both the heat and the air conditioning of this little Galveston town. Happy summer, everyone!
