Once upon a time, I didn’t drink coffee.
But then, as it often happens, I fell in love, and so drinking coffee became something to share.
It isn’t that I hadn’t had ample opportunity before then; I come from strong coffee-loving lineage. Not until about a decade ago, though, was it part of my daily life.
Now, though, it is ritual, enjoyed on an everyday basis in one form or another. I prefer espresso, and usually have lattes at home. In France, that translates into a café crème in the morning, and espresso after espresso after espresso throughout the day.
So thank goodness I learned to enjoy coffee those many years ago. It makes each morning a little bit better, and each trip to Europe a little more authentic.

Bonsoir, Anna! It’s been a long time, but I’m glad you are still enjoying life and communicating is such an engaging way. My wife and I happen to be in Aix-en-Provence for the next five weeks as we are on a “living and learning abroad” trip with the Road Scholar program. So I can fully relate to your current postings. We are taking a six week immersion course in the French language (I’ve never had any train in this language before, my wife far beyond that!) and it’s challenging and fascinating at the same time. One final note: Although you apparently “found” cafe/coffee late in life, my guess is that pastries were discovered much earlier in your travels.
